A Battle to the Top

(photo:sport by: cutcuster.com)

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave- win or lose.
-Gordie Howe

I just realized that I never introduced myself to you all. Well better late than never, I'm Victoria, and if you couldn't already tell my goal for this blog is to teach my fellow females a thing or two about sports. I like to relate my knowledge or current sports news to every type of girl: the girl with a sense of humor, the girl who is boy crazy, or the girl who is a child at heart and still lives in a fairy tale world.

I want you ladies to understand that there is more to sports than what meets the eye, or more than what you hear when your boyfriend won't shut up over dinner about the upset of last nights game. Yeah I've been there!

So far I've tried to show you all that sport has everything that we like and understand: dancing, history, drama, and boys!

If your still reading this blog and don't fully understand sports and the hype that goes along with it. Think about sports and the games like epic stories that tell of a teams battle to the top.

Just think about it. These players battle it out (like knights and dragons) on the court or field with one goal in mind to win and prove that they are the best. Their strength and endurance is tested throughout each match. All come to watch in hopes to witness something great.

However, sometimes our heroes fall short or are taken down by not deadly dragons, but by injuries or the rival team. If not prepared and ready for battle the teams must hang up there jerseys and reminisce on what could have been.

Watching games, buying memorabilia and creating your fantasy teams is actually a way of becoming apart of the game. Its kinda like a guys fairy tale. As girls we want to grow up to be princesses, well boys want to grow up and be professional athletes.

Its actually really sweet and beautiful if you think about (shhhh... don't tell the boys).

Give it a chance ladies. Think deep about the passion, sweat and tears, and how these athletes are driven to win and become successful. Doesn't that sound like a good story?

"What Fuels You"

The lockout is still on, but that does not seem to stop athletes like Tim Tebow from locking in endorsement deals.

Tim Tebow, with that name alone I think I said enough to grab your attention… didn’t I ladies?
The Broncos quarterback has had his fair share of commercial time beginning from his debut commercial during last year’s Super Bowl with his mother. Focus on the Family Super Bowl Commercial with Tim Tebow The anti-abortion ad campaign created a lot of controversy, and that due to the content of the commercial it would not air. However, as we all saw Tebow tackle his mom the ad didn’t pose much of a threat, and if the audience was not previously informed about the ad they probably did not know entirely what it was about.

From anti-abortion to Jockey shorts Tebow likes to create hype. (Of course I don’t mind the Jockey shorts, and I know most of ya’ll could agree.) Since last July Tebow has been the spokesperson for Jockey, and while the lockout is going on Tebow could be looking at a modeling career for the time being. The news gets better! Not only will Tebow be modeling, he will be modeling Jockey underwear, and his commercial will debut next week... Talk about making the best out of a bad situation.

Tebow seems to be one of the luckier athletes since he is still having income coming in not through one endorsement deal, but through several. Tebow has joined the FRS family, and recently debuted his commercial for the energy drink, sadly he’s not in Jockey shorts, but we can appreciate his passion and inspiration that the commercial seems to focus on during these rough times for athletes. Tebow is promoting the FRS energy drink in their, “What fuels you,” campaign. The commercial focuses on the negative criticism that Tebow has faced through his career, and how that has drove him or should I say “Fueled” him to do better and become the accomplished athlete he is today.
In my opinion the “What fuels you” campaign is genius! It sounds like it symbolizes the negativity facing the athletes during this lockout, and hopes to inspire them to overcome the obstacles that they are facing. If anyone else got that from just viewing it I would like to know, or am I looking to deep into it?
However you look at it Tim Tebow sure is taking advantage of his opportunities, and is doing everything he can to overcome his obstacles or make the best out of this
